And all you have to say in response is "AHHHHHAAAHHHHH"!
That's all I've been able to say for 2 weeks now. There have been a series of "surprises", so to speak, that God has put before me.
It all started with my preparing a short Bible study for the bi-weekly group with which I meet. It was nothing in depth, just a brief overview of some special passages in Hebrews & Psalms, mostly. Well, forget that! I was totally broken! I'm tellin' you, out of the blue I was teary-eyed and not sure what had hit me.
Sunday morning, Pastor Wiggins spoke on yet another promise . . . "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." I sat on the pew just taking it all in. I was enjoying feeling like an adult for the day. Henley was safe and sound in the nursery and I was just listening when God said "SURPRISE"! There I was again, teary-eyed and seriously convicted!
Sunday night I had choir practice and then a brief worship service. Again, Pastor Wiggins started hitting me with promise after promise . . . "Ahhh, Ooohh, Eeeek, Ouch"!
Then today happened . I met with my old (let me say that one more time . . . OLD) youth pastor. We sat in his office and reviewed the last 15 years of eachother's lives. When we stopped for a moment he said, "God gave me a verse for you". He preceeded to read from Zephaniah. (Zephaniah!?!? Did I hear you correctly?!?!) A promise. One that I desperately needed to hear. But this time it wasn't quite such a surprise . . .
You see, finally, after all these years, I was listening to what God was trying to tell me. These promises aren't just for everyone else! I shouldn't be shocked when He shows up with a "gift" (fulfillment) for "Little Ol' Me". I had something better to say than "AAAAHHHAAAAHHH"! I said "THANK YOU, LORD"!

So true- God gives us a hug when we least expect it, yet need it most.
I'm not sure how I feel about the "OLD!" comment....;)
Rob
I said that just for you . . . but you already knew that! Hee,hee!
